Description

A delightful combination of sweet strawberries and tangy sourdough, this bread is both comforting and refreshingly unique.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Mix the sourdough starter with warm water and olive oil in a large bowl until well blended.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt with the mixture, stirring until a slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. Fold in the chopped strawberries gently for even distribution.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 4-6 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) as the dough rises.
  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Second rise: Cover and let rise for another hour.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a different sweet note, you can replace sugar with honey or maple syrup. Experiment with different fruits for variation.
