Deliciously rich and gooey chocolate lava cakes filled with a decadent salted caramel center.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four ramekins.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate chips together in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale and thick.
  4. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.
  5. Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into each ramekin, then add a tablespoon of salted caramel sauce in the center, and top with the remaining batter.
  7. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
  8. Let cool for 1 minute, then invert onto plates and dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Serve immediately for the best lava effect.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time.
