A comforting classic dish featuring juicy beef patties smothered in rich mushroom gravy.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Shape the mixture into oval patties about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter.
- Sear the patties for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté sliced mushrooms in the same skillet for about 3-4 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir for a minute.
- Whisk in the beef broth gradually until thickened.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over them, and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Serve hot with gravy drizzled over the top.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider air frying the patties or roasting them in the oven. Make-ahead tips include prepping patties in advance and storing them in the fridge.
