Red Hot Snowball Cocktail: Festive Christmas Drink

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 15 minutes

Description

Shake up a Red Hot Snowball cocktail! A festive, creamy drink with cinnamon vodka & coconut. The perfect spicy-sweet holiday party drink.

Ingredients

The magic of this drink comes from the synergy between its two key liqueurs.

For the Homemade Red Hot Cinnamon Liqueur (Highly Recommended for Best Flavor):

  • 1 cup (150g) Red Hots Cinnamon Candies

  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) Vodka (a neutral, 80-proof vodka works best)

  • ½ cup (120 ml) Water

  • ¼ cup (50g) Granulated Sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

For the Cocktail Assembly:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Advocaat: This is the essential, creamy eggnog-like liqueur that forms the “snowball” base.

  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) Red Hot Cinnamon Liqueur (from above, or store-bought like Fireball)

  • 3 oz (90 ml) Lemon-Lime Soda (such as Sprite or 7-Up), chilled

  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lime Juice

For the “Snowy” Presentation:

  • Lime Wedge

  • Powdered Sugar (for the rim)

  • Optional Garnish: Cinnamon Stick, Star Anise, or a few Red Hots candies

Instructions

Step 1: Craft the Red Hot Cinnamon Liqueur (Do This Ahead of Time)
In a saucepan, combine the Red Hots candies, water, and optional sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the candies are completely dissolved into a smooth syrup. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely to room temperature. Once cool, stir in the vodka. Transfer the mixture to a clean jar, seal it, and let it infuse for at least 24 hours (48 is better). The flavor will deepen over time. Store indefinitely in a cool, dark place.

Step 2: Prepare the “Snowy” Glass
Chill a highball or collins glass in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. Take the chilled glass and rub the rim with a lime wedge. Dip the moistened rim into a shallow plate of powdered sugar, twisting to create a beautiful, even “snowy” rim.

Step 3: Combine the Core Ingredients
Fill the prepared glass with ice. Pour the Advocaat, Red Hot Cinnamon Liqueur, and fresh lime juice over the ice.

Step 4: The Fizzy Top-Up
Top the glass with the chilled lemon-lime soda. The soda provides a necessary brightness and effervescence that lightens the rich, creamy base.

Step 5: Integrate Gently
Use a long bar spoon or a straw to give the drink one gentle stir, just to combine the layers. Over-stirring will cause it to lose its carbonation.

Step 6: The Final Garnish
For a professional touch, garnish with a cinnamon stick placed in the glass, which also doubles as a stirrer. You can also add a few whole Red Hots candies or a star anise pod for extra visual flair.

Step 7: Serve Immediately
Serve right away while the glass is frosty and the soda is still bubbly. Enjoy the captivating contrast of flavors and temperatures!
