- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup candy corn, chopped
- Yellow and orange food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the dough into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, color one part with yellow food coloring, and the other with orange food coloring.
- Take small pieces of each colored dough and roll them into balls. Layer them together to create a swirl effect.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- For a more intense color, add more food coloring as desired.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can help with shaping the cookies.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
