- 3–4 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Place the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.
- Pour the BBQ sauce over the pork, ensuring it is well coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- Once cooked, shred the pork with two forks and mix it with the sauce in the slow cooker.
- Serve on buns, in tacos, or on its own with your favorite sides.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the pork in the spices and BBQ sauce overnight before cooking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for later use.
- Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
