- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges.
- Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm scones before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the dough.
- Store leftover scones in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- These scones can be frozen before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from frozen.
