Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano.
  5. Add the cooked beef mixture and chopped cabbage to the bowl and mix well.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
