Description
Delicious homemade calzones filled with cheese and your choice of fillings, served with a side of marinara sauce.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Your choice of fillings (pepperoni, vegetables, etc.)
- 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
- Fill each circle with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and your choice of fillings.
- Fold the dough over and seal the edges by crimping with a fork.
- Place calzones on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the fillings based on your preference.
- For a crispy crust, brush the calzones with olive oil before baking.
- Calzones can be frozen before baking for a quick meal later.
