Description
Indulge in a Dirty Snowman cocktail! This decadent Baileys ice cream drink with coffee liqueur is the ultimate easy, festive winter dessert.
Ingredients
For the Cocktail Base:
-
2 oz Baileys Original Irish Cream: The creamy, foundational spirit with notes of vanilla and cocoa.
-
1 oz Kahlúa (or any coffee liqueur): Provides the essential “dirty” coffee flavor and a touch of sweetness.
-
1 oz Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur: Adds a luxurious, silky vanilla and white chocolate note. (Substitute: Vanilla Vodka or Carolans Irish Cream)
-
1 oz Vodka (optional but recommended): For a stronger cocktail that isn’t overshadowed by the sweetness. A vanilla or whipped cream vodka works beautifully.
For the Ice Cream Element:
-
2 large scoops (about 1 ½ cups) of high-quality Vanilla Ice Cream: The creamier and richer, the better. For a firmer cocktail, use frozen ice cream.
For the Garnish and Presentation (The Snow Effect):
-
Sweetened Shredded Coconut: For frosting the rim of the glass.
-
Chocolate Syrup or Magic Shell: For drizzling.
-
Whipped Cream: For the final snowy peak.
-
Chocolate Shavings or Cocoa Powder: For additional decoration.
-
A Pirouette Cookie or Candy Cane: For stirring and a festive touch
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the “Snowy” Glass
This step sets the stage for the entire experience. Take a chilled martini, coupe, or milkshake glass. Drizzle the inside with chocolate syrup, creating a decorative pattern. Pour the sweetened shredded coconut onto a small plate. Rub the rim of the glass with a tiny amount of Bailey’s or simple syrup, then gently dip and roll the rim in the coconut to create a “snowy” border. Set the prepared glass aside.
Step 2: Combine the Spirits
In a blender canister, combine the Baileys Irish Cream, Kahlúa, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, and vodka (if using). You can also simply mix these in a glass if you plan to stir your cocktail instead of blending it.
Step 3: Add the Ice Cream
Add the two large scoops of vanilla ice cream to the blender with the liqueurs. For a thicker, milkshake-like consistency, use ice cream straight from the freezer. For a more pourable, cocktail-like consistency, let the ice cream soften for 5-10 minutes first.
Step 4: Blend to Wintry Perfection
Secure the lid on the blender and blend on medium speed for 15-30 seconds. Stop and check the consistency. You are aiming for a smooth, thick, but pourable mixture. Avoid over-blending, as the friction from the blender can melt the ice cream too much, making it runny.
Step 5: Assemble the Masterpiece
Pour the blended cocktail mixture into your prepared, coconut-rimmed glass. If you did not blend, simply pour the mixed liqueurs over a scoop of ice cream in the glass and stir vigorously.
Step 6: The Final Snowy Touches
Top the cocktail with a generous dollop of freshly whipped cream. Drizzle additional chocolate syrup over the whipped cream in a zig-zag pattern. For a final flourish, add a light dusting of cocoa powder or chocolate shavings over the top.
Step 7: Serve Immediately
Serve your Dirty Snowman immediately, with a pirouette cookie or candy cane resting on the side of the glass for stirring and added flair. Provide a straw and a spoon, this is a cocktail you’ll want to attack from all angles.
