- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 8 ounces brie cheese, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced onions.
- Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
- Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to the onions and stir well.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet and score a border around the edges.
- Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry, staying within the scored border.
- Arrange the brie cheese slices on top of the onions.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh thyme if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a sprinkle of nutmeg to the onions while cooking.
- This tart can be served as an appetizer or a light meal.
