Description
A rich and creamy pasta dish with smoky sausage and vibrant bell peppers, infused with Cajun spices for a comforting experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz fettuccine pasta
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup bell peppers, sliced
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the fettuccine: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain the pasta and set it aside, reserving a bit of the pasta water.
- Sauté the sausage: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned and fragrant, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the garlic and peppers: Stir in the minced garlic and sliced bell peppers. Sauté until the peppers soften and the garlic becomes aromatic.
- Create the cream sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese and Cajun seasoning. Mix thoroughly until the cheese melts.
- Combine with pasta: Gently toss in the cooked fettuccine, using tongs or a pasta fork to coat every piece with the rich sauce. Add reserved pasta water if needed.
- Season and serve: Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper. Serve warm with chopped parsley on top.
Notes
To enhance flavor, use fresh ingredients and quality heavy cream. Make the sauce a day in advance for convenience.
